Paul Scott, now a Professor 2 of Ceramics at Oslo National Academy of the Arts, electrified and transformed international ceramic practice with his seminal book "Ceramics and Print" published in 1994. His is currently working on an updated and enlarged third edition.
Maureen Michaelson is proud to have recognized Paul's exceptional talent and inventiveness at the very beginning of his career when she first saw his work in 1987 and bought an early piece of his. The Gallery was the first to show his work publicly, at the 1995 London Art Fair at the Business Design Centre. Paul was one of the three artists Maureen Michaelson Gallery showed that year, and the first copies of his book were on sale at the stand. The Gallery was also the first to encourage Paul's new venture into 3D ceramic forms with his signature graphic imagery. These were first shown publicly on Maureen Michaelson Gallery's stand at Collect at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2004. They were an immediate critical and popular success, with all the 3D landscape elements selling out.
Paul is now much in demand as a lecturer, and spends much of his time travelling in Europe, America, and Australia lecturing and demonstrating.
Among the outstanding commissions he has made in recent years is the vast mosaic ceramic mural in Hanoi in Vietnam and several commissions in Maryport, Cumbria.
