SENTIENT BEINGS, 2008 43 x 27 x 24 cm. Ceramic, vitreous slips.
This piece represents the common feelings that link all living beings. The eyes of all three creatures on this piece (the fox, the bird and the woman) are made hollow. The hollows meet in the centre of the sculpture, representing the idea that ultimately all living things share the same consciousness of being alive.
This is one of the most recent pieces made by George. Here he has taken recurring iconographic symbols of the bird and the fox and brought them centre stage.
